11 A.M. ~ We Only Time-Traveled for 15 Minutes and Saw 'The End'

11 A.M. is a 2013 Korean film, categorized as Science Fiction (Sci-Fi), Time Travel, Thriller, streaming on Tubi TV and The Roku Channel. The film blends time-travel mystery with psychological thriller elements.

  • Memorable Quote: “Time travel is possible.” … “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.” (Proverbs 27: 1)

11 A.M. blends sci-fi time travel with psychological thriller intensity as a team of deep-sea researchers tests a prototype capable of jumping exactly 24 hours ahead, only for Woo Seok and Young Eun to arrive in a future where their lab is destroyed, their colleagues have vanished, and a violent attack appears imminent. Woo Seok returns alone, shaken and racing against the clock to prevent the catastrophe he witnessed, unraveling corrupted surveillance clues, rising paranoia, and the possibility of betrayal within the team. As tensions escalate and the countdown to 11 A.M. approaches, the scientists struggle to determine whether the future is fixed or if they can still change the fate awaiting them—and save Young Eun from a doomed timeline.

Another excellent Korean movie for sci-fi lovers. I really loved the quote from Proverbs, although at first I didn't get it. But when they went to the future, I totally got it!

STORYLINE:

A century-old curse shapes the lives of those connected to the influential Choi family. According to legend, the first bride of the family’s eldest son is destined to die—a chilling prophecy that has haunted generations from the Joseon Era and continues to cast a shadow over the present.

Choi Kang-Joo, the aloof and impeccably groomed heir to Taeyang Group. Choi Kang-Joo is intelligent and capable, yet emotionally distant due to past trauma and the heavy burden of his family’s legacy. His arranged marriage to Jang Yi-Kyung, a poised and calculating heiress, is intended to strengthen business ties and uphold tradition. However, Jang Yi-Kyung mysteriously disappears just before the wedding, throwing both families into crisis.

To preserve the engagement and avoid scandal, the Jang family secretly recruits Na Doo-Rim, a cheerful and hardworking young woman from a small island village who happens to be Jang Yi-Kyung’s doppelganger. Na Doo-Rim's personality is the complete opposite of Jang Yi-Kyung. She is warm, sincere, and refreshingly honest and in need of money. Jang Yi-Hyun, Jang Yi-Kyung’s half-brother agrees to provide financial support for her grandmother’s medical needs, if Na Doo-Rim would impersonate his missing sister. Of course, she is unaware of the dangerous curse tied to the first bride. But no matter. She does not plan to actually marry the chaebol heir. It's just a temporary gig.

But the best-laid plans often don't go as planned.

Na Doo-Rim enters Choi Kang-Joo’s world, and her genuine personality begins to soften his guarded exterior. Their interactions shift from formal and tense to unexpectedly tender, creating a slow-burn romance filled with emotional nuance. Choi Kang-Joo, who initially views her as a strategic match, finds himself drawn to her authenticity—never suspecting her true identity. Meanwhile, Na Doo-Rim struggles with guilt and fear, torn between her growing feelings and the deception she must maintain. Jang Yi-Hyun, the half-brother, becomes increasingly entangled in the unfolding mystery.

Before meeting anyone in the Jang or the Choi family, Na Doo-Rim helped a woman in distress. The woman gave her a good luck charm and told her it would bring her love. Love is great.  But can a charm break a century-old curse?

Old But Gold Movies: Review: “There Will Be Blood” (2007)

“There Will Be Blood” (2007) is a movie starring Daniel Day-Lewis.  He won an Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. If you are a fan, then you will love the actor, but you will hate the character he played.  Oh my!  What a horrible, awful, awful man!!  You never want to meet someone like that in real life!  If you know someone like that, then surely you must go in the opposite direction every time it looks like you're going cross paths.  If I were keeping a list of movies I hate, this film would be at the top of the list.

I HATED THIS MOVIE!!!

If you are a loyal fan of Daniel Day-Lewis (Sir Daniel Michael Blake Day-Lewis) then you have probably seen this movie. It’s not a recent film. It was released 10+ years ago. The movie is
“There Will Be Blood”.

I don’t care for all of the movies where Daniel Day-Lewis is the star, even if he is a “Sir”. But I do know that he always gives 200% whenever he gives a performance.

This film won 2 Oscars. One award was for Best Achievement in Cinematography: Robert Elswit. The other was given to Daniel Day-Lewis for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role.

He was good! He played his part well. He was so good that I HATED HIM!!

I HATED THIS MOVIE!!!

If I met any of those people in real life, I would run away from them!

I only liked 2 characters: the adopted son (of Daniel Day-Lewis) and the girl he fell in love with.

As for the character played by Daniel Day-Lewis and that preacher he was always butting heads with?

I HATED BOTH OF THEM! I HATED THEIR GUTS!!

So was there blood? If you have not seen the movie, I don’t want to spoil it for you, but … yeah! Blood was definitely shed.

Sean Fennessey, a writer for The Ringer, a publication that covers sports, pop culture, and tech, provided a succinct description of this film in his movie review:

Never crawl out? Never??

What a relief to know that it was just a movie and not a historical account of real events.

So relax. If you are pursuing the American dream … dream on!

♦  "There Will Be Blood" has some excellent behind-the-scenes trivia.

  1. Paul Dano was originally cast only in a small part as Paul Sunday, but a few weeks into filming, he was asked by director Paul Thomas Anderson to also play Eli Sunday, effectively giving him two roles in the movie.

  2. The film’s iconic metaphor, “I drink your milkshake,” was adapted from a real historical analogy used by U.S. Senator Albert Fall during testimony about oil drainage and the Teapot Dome scandal.

  3. The celebrated score by Jonny Greenwood was ineligible for an Academy Award because it incorporated material from his existing compositions, yet it still won awards and became highly influential.

  4. The opening of the film has very little spoken dialogue, emphasizing atmosphere and character through visuals and sound rather than words.

  5. Daniel Day-Lewis appears in nearly every scene of the film, and his immersive take on the role has been noted as a key element in the movie’s haunting impact.
