Texas music legend, Stevie Ray Vaughan (1954 - 1990)
There is the blues and then there is the Texas blues. Legendary guitarist, Stevie Ray Vaughan, is credited with a blues revival in the 1980s. He was described by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as "the second coming of the blues".
Sadly, his life was cut short. He died in a helicopter crash, August 1990. But his music lives on and so do his hats! He wore a plateau hats and made them look so cool people started calling them the “SRV hats”. You can buy an autographed Stevie Ray Vaughan hats at auctions.
Texans love Stevie Ray Vaughan so much there is a memorial statue of him at Auditorium Shores on Lady Bird Lake, in Downtown Austin, Texas. Is he wearing a hat? Of course!
